Nebraska Man Killed in I-80 Rollover Accident

According to a report by WestportNews, in the late afternoon on September 21, a 29-year-old Nebraska man was driving along the I-80 in his pickup truck when he experienced a rollover accident four miles east of the Elm Creek interchange.

The Nebraska State Patrol stated that the Nebraska man was forced to swerve to avoid a collision when another pickup with a stock trailer changed lanes. His pickup truck hit the median and rolled, ejecting and killing him. Two passengers were injured in the incident.

Reports by witnesses allege that the pickup collided with the trailer before hitting the median. The driver of the truck with the stock trailer did not stop. It is not known if the driver knew an accident had occurred. Read the rest »

Kearney Man Killed in Central Nebraska Auto Accident

Nebraska Auto AccidentAccording to a report by Omaha.com, on the afternoon of September 15, a Kearney man, age 30, was killed in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of U.S. Highway 30 and Nebraska Highway 10.

The man had been heading north in his 1994 Infiniti on Highway 10 and attempted to enter Highway 30 to go west when his vehicle collided with a 1991 Chevrolet pickup going the other way. He was declared dead at the scene. Officials say an autopsy will be performed.

The pickup truck’s three occupants were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital with apparently non-life-threatening injuries. Read the rest »

Researchers Release Study on Cerebral Palsy and Early Infant Death

According to a report by HealthDay, researchers recently released a study on the risk factors of cerebral palsy and early infant death. Medical journal Obstetrics & Gynecology published the study on September 9.

Researchers from the U.S. and Australia put together their resources and efforts for the study. They exchanged and compared the medical records of children with cerebral palsy and infants who had passed within a month of their birth with those of healthy children to determine what risk factors consistently contributed to these birth afflictions.

Risk factors included asphyxial birth events, where a newborn’s brain is deprived of oxygen during labor and delivery. Another risk factor was inflammation, a likely sign of infection. Read the rest »

Motorist Killed in Collision with Two Semi Trucks on I-80

Nebraska Wrongful DeathAccording to a report by Omaha.com, on August 31, a motorist was killed after his vehicle crossed the median on Interstate 80 and collided with two semitrailer trucks. The accident took place at night around 8:30 p.m.

A lieutenant of the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office stated that the motorist was heading east on I-80 in a 2003 Acura RSX and was nearing the Melia Hill Rest Area when the fatal accident took place. The Acura veered into the westbound side and struck two trucks going in the opposite direction, causing one of them to roll over.

The driver of the Acura was declared dead at the scene. The drivers of the two semi trucks were not injured. A female passenger with one of the truck drivers was taken to a nearby hospital with only minor injuries. Read the rest »
