According to a report by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Toys ‘R’ Us issued a recall of about 12,650 Journey Girl Travel Trunks. After receiving numerous reports of incidents involving the trunk, including one incident in which a consumer needed to receive stitches, the toy company determined that a defect with the trunk’s blue metal handle posed a laceration injury risk to consumers and consequently issued the recall on September 27.
The Journey Girl Travel Trunks are 21 inches tall and intended to hold 18-inch-tall dolls. Geometric patterns of purple outlined by blue cover the trunk’s exterior. The trunks were sold in a set that included three clothes hangers and two drawers. The affected models can be identified by their UPC #4897027965070 and model number 5F5F79E. Both numbers are located on the bottom of the trunk.
The travel trunks were sold at Toys ‘R’ Us stores across the nation and on the company’s online store at www.toysrus.com for $30 from October 2012 through February 2013.
All consumers are advised to immediately arrest all usage of the trunk and to return the product to the closest Toys ‘R’ Us store for a full refund or store credit.
