There are significant risks associated with a closed head injury, and very strong blows can lead to severe complications, such as intracranial pressure or brain swelling, which can lead to permanent brain damage if delicate brain tissue and nerve cells are destroyed.

There are several different types of closed head injuries that a person may endure, and the following is more information on each type:
